Gary Howard received a B.A. Degree from the University of Michigan in 1976 with a major in political science and a minor in economics. He received his J.D. from Wayne State Law School in May of 1979. He has been licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan since November, 1979. He is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar Association.

On September 1, 1982, after practicing law in Southfield for three years, the Law Office of Gary Howard, P.C. was opened in Southwest Detroit. The law firm has been serving residents of Southwest Detroit since 1982. Gary Howard has a partner, Ajay Gupta and the firm is now known as Howard & Gupta, P.C.

Gary has been married for twenty six years and he has three children. He is a trustee at Central Free Will Baptist Church and a former Cub Master of Pack 26, a local group of cub scouts. Presently, Gary is a member of the Southwest Detroit Business Association and the Southwest Detroit Improvement Association.
